1. Install PC Dos 5.0 Classic as per instructions
2. Click on Start Button
3. Click on Run
4. Type edit c:\windows\system32\config.nt   Click OK
   If the above cannot be found, change to the following path:
   edit c:\winnt\system32\config.nt   Click OK
5. Review the program looking for the following 2 statements
   FILES=99
   BUFFERS=40
   If you do not find these 2 statements, add them at the very bottom of the program.
6. Click File, Click Save, Click File, Click Exit (If you needed to use winnt in step 4, you will need to press the Alt key & F Click Save, press the Alt key & F, Click Exit)
7. Restart your system
8. On your Windows desktop, find the People’s Choice Icon, right click on it
9. Click on Properties, click General tab  Change the name from People’s Choice DOS Classic to (exactly) MS-DOS Prompt - FOXD250B  and click ok
10. Click Start
11. Click Run
12. Type edit c:\people\pc.bat  and click ok
13. Find the line of SCSM\SCSM.exe   Use the down arrow key and at the beginning of that line type REM and one space before SCSM   Click File, Click Save then click File, click Exit   (If you needed to use winnt in step 4, you will need to press the Alt key & F Click Save, press the Alt key & F, Click Exit)
14. Click on Start, Programs, People’s Choice for DOS Classic, and right click on the SafeChoice Solutions Manager. Click Send to, Desktop
15. From the Windows desktop, use the Icon, to open People’s Choice. After it has opened, Press ALT & Tab at the same time to return to the desktop and double click on the SCSM Icon.  (It will minimize to the task bar)  From the task bar you can click on the People’s Choice Icon to bring it to the active window.

NOTE:

• When backing up, get the procedure started, then from the task bar, click on the SCSM to make it your active window in order for the back up to complete normally.
• When the People’s Choice program is open, the entire screen will be blue, but the menu will only appear on the top half of the screen. At this point in time we have not found a setting to change this appearance.
