When you receive this error message you have two options:

  1. Use the Custom Backup Program

  2. Backup from MS DOS mode

Custom Backup Instructions

Once you have downloaded PCZIPBU.EXE from our website, copy it to a formatted 3.5" floppy disk.

Click on Start, then Run, then type in a:\pczipbu.exe then click on ok. This will expand all the files needed for the installation to the floppy disk.

TO INSTALL TO YOUR SYSTEM

CLICK ON START – Click on Run - type A:Setup.exe - click on OK. This will install the Custom Backup Program to your computer system. It will be installed into the group called People's Choice w_PCZIP. Accept all defaults the program may ask for.

After the program has been installed, we recommend removing the diskette and restarting the computer system.

BACKUP USING PCZIP IS A TWO STEP PROCESS...

STEP ONE:

Click on START, then PROGRAMS, then People’s Choice W_PCZip, then on People‘s Choice W_PCZip. This will open People’s Choice program in a new window on your computer system.

Open your company

Go to the Module Selection Menu

select 1. Backup/Restore Data Files

select Backup Data to Floppy

Information will be displayed as to when you last made a backup... press any key to continue

select Drive B: enter (your data will now backup on your hard drive)

When finished (use your escape key - Esc) to exit out of People’s Choice and back to your Window’s desk top

STEP TWO:

Click on START - then PROGRAMS – then on People's Choice w_PCZIP - then click on PCBackup

You will get a new window that has the following information displayed

C:\>ECHO OFF

Place a blank floppy disk in Drive A to make People’s Choice Zip backup. You will need approximately 1 disk for every 11 disks used to make a standard People’s Choice backup

Press any key to continue..............

 Follow the instructions above.

Once the window disappears, your data has been backed up to your A: drive. Place it in a safe place in case you need to restore your data at a later time.

If you need to do a RESTORE of your company data and have previously made a BACKUP using PCZIP:

STEP ONE:

Put backup diskette into Drive A

Click on START - then PROGRAMS – then People's Choice w_PCZIP - then click PCRestore

C:>CD\PCZip (follow on screen instructions)

 STEP TWO:

Click on START - then PROGRAMS – then People’s Choice W_PCZip - then click on People‘s Choice W_PCZip to open People’s Choice

Open your company

Go to the Module Selection Menu

select 1. Backup/Restore Data Files

select 2. Restore Data from floppy

select Drive B: enter (your data will now restore from your hard drive)

When finished (use your escape key - Esc) to exit out of People’s Choice and back to your Windows desk top

Making a BACKUP from MS DOS mode

Please follow these instructions:

  1. Click on Start.
  2. Click on ShutDown.
  3. Click on Re-Start in MS DOS Mode.
  4. Click on OK.
  5. You will close the graphic user interface of Windows 95/98 and be taken to a c:\windows prompt (black screen).
  6. Type CD\ and press ENTER key on your keyboard.
  7. Type PC and press the ENTER key on your keyboard.
  8. You will be taken into People's Choice and will be able to make your backup now.
  9. Upon completion of backup, use your escape key (Esc) on your keyboard to exit from the program.
  10. You will be taken to c:\people prompt on your screen.
  11. Type EXIT and hit your ENTER key on your keyboard to be taken back into Windows.
