Choice Technologies, Inc. Printing Problems

 

Version:  DOS Classic 5.0

Problem:  No printed output or printer errors

Situation:

  • Printer error: out of paper, not communicating, etc.
  • Program acts like it printed but didn't physically print anything

Resolution:

  • Do system maintenance, including DO CLEANUP
  • Are you using a new or different printer for People's Choice?
  • Is your printer a Windows Only printer?  If so, follow the instructions to change printer port to spooler
  1. Enter into company
  2. Go to Payroll & Disbursements
  3. Setup
  4. General System Setup
  5. Look at the last question on the screen:  "Are you using a laser printer to print Checks/Reports (Y/N):"  If you are using a dot matrix or pin printer, the question should be answered "N".  If you are using a bubble jet, ink jet, or laser printer, the question should be answered "Y".

Changing Printer to Spooler

  1. Go into People's Choice
  2. Go into your company
  3. Go into Payroll and Disbursements
  4. General Reports
  5. Chart of Accounts
  6. When you get to the report customization options screen, type C to change printer.  Click on spooler and press enter.  (This only needs to be done in one company, the setting carries over for all companies)
  7. Click on the SafeChoice Solutions Manager Icon from the task bar at the bottom of your screen (the manila folder with the printer on it).  Verify that the People's Choice printer is the correct printer.  If not, click on the down arrow off to the right and select the correct printer.  DO NOT CLOSE THE SAFECHOICE SOLUTIONS MANAGER, ONLY MINIMIZE IT.
  8. You may want to print a Chart of Accounts to test the printing.
